Cross Compatibility Nightmare

June 2, 2011

Years ago I had to occasionally deal with design project management geared towards health specialists who always thought that no matter what the subject matter was, they were right.

The most common issue was compatibility with the way a website looked on their platform or browser.

Now that I am in South Korea, I see many Korean websites that either do not function on other browsers than internet explorer or are just dysfunctional.

If I had more reach towards the Korean web design and IT community, I would introduce them to two browser compatibility testing sites.

1) Browsershots  ( free)

Type in the web address to test. A list of all OS and browsers to be tested are shown.

Screenshots of how a website looks on different browser andOS environments are shown after a few minutes.

Scroll the mouse over to zoom into how the screen looks on various OS and browsers.

2) Cross Browser Testing

This is the video to their demo : http://crossbrowsertesting.com/demo

and they have a free trial but I think browsershot is a good start to test.
